We made it!

After 610km Mandy and I cycled into Katima Mulilo last night in time for sunset over the Zambezi. It may not have been 5000kms, but it was the perfect introduction to cycling and travelling for us. It has been a great practice run for our big cycle trip after the container is set up.

For the two weeks we were cycling there was no internet hence the reason I have been out of contact. But I have written up four blog posts about our first week of the cycle trip which I will put up on my blog over the next week.

During the trip we stopped off at four established bike work shops along the way. It was great to see the difference they make. I will do a blog post on one of them.

Along the way we have also got some great footage for the documentary and have learnt a lot ie, remember to take the tripod, remember to switch on the microphone, remember to put the memory card in, remember to have a charged battery and my favourite one is forgetting to push record! It has worked out perfect as we have gotten all the mistakes out the way in time for our Katima project (don’t worry Sich, all under control ;))

We are rather excited to be here in Katima, we both get a good feel from the place as we cycled through the main street this morning. Our new home for the next couple of months and my final chapter of working the world.

Apparently the container should have arrived a couple of days ago, but we are still waiting to hear back from our contact here in Katima. The training will be kicking off on Monday where I will be helping Paulina the BEN, Namibia bike mechanic trainer. So pretty excited to finally be here and doing it.

In other news, there will be no more round again rings for sale as the wonderful Nicola Macklin is in the middle of Mongolia. Thank you to everyone who purchased the round again rings, and a BIG thank you to Nicola for choosing our project to raise money for. If you haven’t seen Nicola’s website, then check it out here.

OK gotta fly, just got a message from the our contact here, we going to meet him at the container, it arrived yesterday.

PS big thank you to Scott for all the help along the way and his contacts here in Katima. Also big thank you to the all the people that have hosted us along the way. THANK YOU
